10 things to know about Oregon

Updated: Dec 3, 2019

September in Oregon - 10 things to experience

10 things we learned about Oregon living here for 1 month

1. Amazing coastlines: traveled Hwy. 101 north from Heceta Head Light House all the way to Astoria

Heceta Light House - like a postcard

2. Visit Bruce: Bruce lives in an airplane in the woods.

3. Crater Lake National Park: a must see

4. Mt. Hood: if you are into mountain biking, you must ride in Hood River (more of this in another section of the blog)

Riding - our happy place :-)

5. Bagby Hot Springs: a beautiful hike and totally worth it

6. The Goonies: if you remember this film, you'll find lots of places you recognize around Astoria, Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock.

Astoria - ORV complete with bullet holes

7. Portland: spend time here. People are friendly and welcoming. There are so many food trucks.

Keep Portland weird

8. Jefferson State: there is a section in southern Oregon and northern California where people want their own state, Jefferson. Interesting but not our cup of tea.
9. Wine: if you love wine you must stop at a winery in Willamette Valley and enjoy some Pinot Noir.

The land of Pinot Noir

10. Waterfalls: there are many along the Columbia River gorge in Oregon, one of the most iconic is Multnomah Falls.
